Chapter 15 –- from Signs of the End

Last Revised May 2008, select quotes posted August 24, 2010
The Sign for Hezekiah on the Sundial of Ahaz
And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What is the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the Lord the third day?”
Then Isaiah said, “This is the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will do the thing which He has spoken: Shall the shadow go forward ten degrees or go backward ten degrees?”
And Hezekiah answered, “It is an easy thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees; no, but let the shadow go backward ten degrees.”
So Isaiah the prophet cried out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
2 Kings 20:8-11
King Sennacherib from Assyria has just conquered your cities with only the Capitol City of Jerusalem remaining. You have already given Sennacherib the gold and silver from the Temple and it was to no avail. He took the gold and continued to drive his armies toward Jerusalem. Assyria’s soldiers are now organizing outside of your city’s walls. You can hear the clamor of the weaponry.  The battle is inevitable.  It would seem the remnant of Israel is about to be decimated and scattered by the might of Assyria...

God told Isaiah to return and tell Hezekiah that he would not die and also that the Kingdom would be spared from the hand of the Assyrians.  To show Hezekiah the sureness of God’s message, God will provide a sign.  Isaiah, therefore, asks Hezekiah which way should God change the shadow on Ahaz’s sundial.  Of course the miraculous sign would be for the shadow to go backwards, and that is what Hezekiah requests.  The shadow then went back ten degrees providing one of the greatest miracles in the Bible.  But that was not the only miracle.

But how monumental is a sign of ten degrees?  Unless one was paying close attention, the precision could be easily missed.  The best way to observe it would of course be on a sundial of precision (Incidentally, this is the first recorded account of a sundial in history).  The key to the sign is to convert the geometry of ten degrees to time.  In one day there are 360 degrees, so ten degrees is one thirty-sixth of twenty-four hours.  This would figure to be two-thirds of an hour or forty minutes.  The monumental fact is that God altered the Earth’s course and did it with the significant number of forty.  God purposely shifted the sun forty minutes for some significant reason.

The intriguing thing is that our current calendar year of 365.2422 days originates at about this time.  Many cultures, even primitive ones, changed their calendars to incorporate this change at around 700 BC.  According to sound biblical chronology, the sundial “incident” would be in 713 BC.

In other words, this astronomical event in Hezekiah’s day appears to have changed the original 360-day year to the current 365.2422-day year.  The result being that every year since 713 BC, there has been an extra 5.2422 days per year.  So, for example, in six years (707 BC) the calendar would have already been a month out of whack and in about sixty-nine years it would have been off by a year.  It was a shift that would have been quickly noticed and history bears this out.

Since the year of 713 BC until the year of AD 2008, there has been 2,720 years.  At 5.2422 extra days per year, the extra time has accumulated to an extra 14,259 days over the original 360-day year.  In 360-day years, forty years equals 14,400 days.  As of AD 2008 we are at 39.61 extra years.

Therefore, from the time of God’s returning of the sun ten degrees, there are now almost forty extra years from the perspective of the old calendar.

The shift of forty minutes was a one-time event that resulted in an orbital change of 5.2422 extra days per year.  The forty minutes itself does not figure mathematically into the buildup of extra days.  The calculation is simply 5.2422 extra days per year from the perspective of the 360-day year.

The parallel between the forty minutes and the forty extra days is the similar use of the number forty.  Under Hezekiah it was a change of forty minutes by the sun in a day, but the resulting calendar change from that time has nearly resulted in a difference of forty years between the old and new calendar years.  This seems to be the parallel, but is there an element to this that would highlight a specific day? Is there similar accuracy, like what has been previously demonstrated in the timelines?  Can we find even more confirmation of the end time events here?

The 14,400 days of forty 360-day years divided by 5.2422 days per year would equal 2,747 365.2422-day years from 713 BC.  This would put the completion of an extra forty years at AD 2035.  This of course did not line up with any date developed in this book or display any type of “to-the-day” precision.  It was also outside the timeframe of a generation required from world war and the establishment of Israel.  But was there a different solution that would zero in on a specific day?

It is the hypothesis of this book that the year of Christ’s return to begin His Millennial reign is in AD 2017.  This would be 2,729 years from the calendar change in 713 BC.  It would put us at 14,306 extra days (2,729 times 5.2422).  This would be thirty-nine years (39 times 360 equals 14,040 days) eight months (8 times 30 equals 240 days) and 26 days (to total 14,306 days). In other words if we were still using the 360-day year and advanced from 713 BC until AD 2017, we would be in the fortieth extra year in the ninth month at the completion of the 26th day of the month.

This day is none other than the 26th of Kislev, the completion of which brings us the third day of Hanukkah.  As we have previously seen, this is the time that everything points to as the beginning of the blessings of the Millennium ... It is the blessed 1,335th day as spoken of by Daniel.

Therefore, this solution points exactly to the significance of this day in AD 2017.  Only a span of 2,729 years can point to this significant day of Hanukkah.  It “so happens” that this length of time winds up pointing to AD 2017 like the other timelines correlating with forty in this book.

What is striking when working with these various calendars is that a consistency is revealed.  When working with 365.2422-day years the focus is always in a yearly or annual manner.  With 360-day years there is always a focus on calculating the exact day.  This is true in all aspects of all of the timelines in this book.  What is mind boggling is how God has altered the calendar to make it in the end interlock and line up with such precision and accuracy using all of the various timelines.  Only the true God could have orchestrated such design because only God knows the end from the beginning.

Some may say this is all coincidence and number play.  However, when one looks for another year in history using the 5.2422 day shift to point to the ending of the second day of Hanukkah, it will be discovered that the last occurrence was in AD 300.  That is a 1,717 year dry spell that ends and aligns itself with our year of 2017.  And yet all of the other calculations in this book mysteriously line up as well.  Coincidence? Hardly.  In fact no other year since Hezekiah’s sign fits as closely as 2017, which points to the very conclusion of the second day of Hanukkah.  It is simply astounding when the “coincidence” of the fortieth year is factored in as well and all the prior uses of forty which dovetail to 2017.

In looking at all of the numbers associated with these extra 5.2422 days per year over a period of 2,729 years, another year stood out and demanded further digging.  This year was none other than AD 32, the year Jesus was most likely crucified.  What caught my initial attention was for the fact that 744 years, from 713 BC to AD 32, multiplied by 5.2422 days per year equaled 3,900 days.   It was an even and round number, but it brought immediately to mind the Jewish tradition of only allowing thirty-nine lashes, so that they would never exceed forty.  Of course, the ultimate lashings were administered in this year to Jesus the Messiah and this was intriguing, but it begged further investigation.

What is unique about the extra 3,900 days is that when they are converted to years and months, it leads to another discovery.  Converting to the 360-day calendar, as we have previously done, these 3,900 days convert to ten completed years (3,600 days) and ten completed months (300 days).  On the new calendar, however, we would be just starting Nisan 1 in AD 32 with ten days to go to Palm Sunday—the day Daniel’s 69 weeks ended.  So at the onset of Nisan 1, AD 32 there was a calendar difference of ten years and ten months with ten days to go until the Triumphal Entry of Jesus the Christ—all stemming from the sign of ten degrees back in King Hezekiah’s day.

The magnificence of Hezekiah’s sign is the fact that it points to both coronation times.  The first was a seeming failure, but in reality a success because salvation was provided through Jesus’ death on the cross.  It was the time of the suffering Servant, but the conquering King would end up coming later.  This would find full completion in the second coronation time.  After the Battle of Armageddon and the separation of the wicked, there will be the blessed day spoken of by Daniel.  It is the ending day of the symbolic forty days and nights of rain—the end of Kislev 26, which then brings the gift giving day of Kislev 27.  It is the day the full blessings of the Millennium Kingdom begin with its King.  All who are alive that day will be blessed beyond measure.  It is the day that completes the salvation saga that began on Palm Sunday.

As with the other discoveries in this book, we have more than one point to confirm the use of the timeline.  Here we have the significance of ten pointing to Palm Sunday.  Then there is the significance of forty pointing to the ending fortieth day of Kislev 26.  All of this with precision engineering like an atomic clock. God’s clock is ticking and the time is appointed.  God has maneuvered the calendar seemingly out of kilter to line it all up at the time of Christ’s return.  It is all in the planning.

Time will soon run out on the decisions we can make. Hopefully all of these discoveries make the ticking sound of the countdown crystal clear.  To ignore the sound will have disastrous ramifications for all that find themselves on the wrong side of time.  But is anybody listening?
